We’re on the Yukon Quest trail again! The race starts at 11 am this morning in downtown Fairbanks, with 24 mushers cruising up the Chena River on their way to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada, following old mail and freight routes 1,000 miles through some of the wildest country left in North America!

I’m in Fairbanks this evening, surprised to read the news about Hans, still catching up on how Jon, William, and Hugh are doing. The temperatures here in Fairbanks are unusually high, but snow is in the forecast again tonight.
The 2009 Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race from Whitehorse, Yukon, to Fairbanks, Alaska, gets underway Saturday, February 14th, with a terrific field of 29 mushers and sled dog teams on this year’s trail.
